For a working van the tint conversation is mostly about what people can see through the glass at 6am on a housing estate.
The short answer
Tinting the rear glass of a van is legal at any shade in Ireland and is the cheapest thing you can do to stop tools being visible from the footpath. The cab side windows still have to pass 65% light transmission.

Shade choice for vans is simple
5% on the rear. There is no legal reason to go lighter and no practical one either — you are not reversing by looking through the load area glass on most vans.
