Privacy window film for cars
Privacy window film turns ordinary rear glass into a factory privacy-glass finish. South East Window Tinting fits it by hand in Gorey, Co. Wexford, from €90 — dark on the back, legal on the front.
What privacy film does
- Hides the back seats, child seats, tools and shopping from passers-by.
- Gives a matched, factory privacy-glass look on cars that came without it.
- Rejects heat and effectively all UV — kinder to children and pets in the back.
- Holds shattered glass together, making smash-and-grab harder.
Rear glass can go as dark as you like; front windows stay within the limit explained on our Irish tint law page. Full prices are on the pricing page, and the fitting process is covered on the car window tinting service page.

Privacy window film questions
What is privacy window film for a car?
Privacy window film is a dark automotive tint fitted to the inside of your rear doors, quarter glass and rear screen. It stops people seeing into the back seats and boot, and makes the car look like it left the factory with privacy glass. South East Window Tinting fits it in Gorey from €90.
Is privacy film legal on rear windows in Ireland?
Yes. Irish rules regulate the windscreen and front side windows. Rear side glass and the rear screen can be fitted with any shade, provided the car has two working door mirrors. Front windows must stay within the legal limit — see our Irish tint law page.
How much does privacy window film cost?
Rear-set privacy film starts from €90 on a 3-door hatchback and goes up by body type, with full SUV and estate jobs up to €240. Exact prices are on the pricing page and are agreed before any work starts.
Is film the same as factory privacy glass?
Factory privacy glass is tinted inside the glass itself and usually only blocks light. Quality film matches the look and also rejects heat and effectively all UV, and you choose the exact shade — 5%, 20% or 35% are the most popular for privacy.
Do I need to travel to Dublin for privacy tint?
No. Most well-known tint shops are Dublin-based. South East Window Tinting fits privacy film locally in Gorey, Co. Wexford, a short drive from Wexford, Wicklow, Carlow, Kilkenny and Waterford.
